Director Susan Kucera, Living in the Future's PastOur film, Living in the Future’s Past, produced and presented by Jeff Bridges, was featured in the world-class Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival. This was one of our favorite festivals. The professionalism and care the co-directors, Alexandra Drobac Diagne and Debra Wolf Goldstein, had for the filmmakers was top notch. Jeff and I felt the festival’s philosophy was right in sync with expanding ecological thought through the power of film. It was a treat to see Living in the Future's Past at the lovely Prince theatre in the heart of Philadelphia. I hope we make another film worthy of being included.
Director Anna Chai, Wasted! The Story of Food WasteThe venue! The Prince Theater is a gorgeous old theater. The neighborhood—The organizers suggested that I stay at the Palomar Hotel, which was walking distance from the theater and close to many excellent food and drink options. The people—the staff was extremely friendly, competent, organized, accommodating, etc. My weekend was well planned and not stressful at all. I also really enjoyed speaking with the moderator for my Q&A. I was surprised how many audience members wanted to talk after the screening. We had to vacate the theater to make room for the next screening. I’ve attended a dozen festivals with my documentary Wasted! The Story of Food Waste both here in the US and abroad, and I really found the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival to be a well-run event and I had a great time!
Director Sarah Hutt, The Shaman and the ScientistI don’t give away five stars on anything lightly, but I had a very positive experience at this festival. As an attending filmmaker, I found attention to detail evident everywhere, from the clean and stylish logo, website, and press materials to share on social media, to the easy, friendly, and responsive communication from staff and organizers, to the fantastic venue in downtown Philly and the extremely well-curated selection of films. I’d expect nothing less from a festival founded and run by two accomplished women dedicated to having an impact on environmental issues through the medium of film. They drew a great crowd and an impressive group of sponsors and influencers for a festival only in its second year.
