Join us for our next Fest in April 2022

History

Our mission is to bring the planet to Philadelphia through the power of environmental film.

The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival was started in 2017 by Debra Wolf Goldstein, a land conservation lawyer who drafted the city’s first parkland protection ordinance, served as vice president of the Fairmount Park Commission, and has written numerous scholarly and popular publications on environmental issues.  Co-founder Alexandra Drobac Diagne worked in the film industry in Los Angeles for 15 years, helping James Cameron launch Lightstorm Entertainment, working on several major feature films, and producing a documentary.

Since its founding, the annual festival has been honored to screen hundreds of exceptional new films from around the world, highlighting a variety of urgent environmental topics and inspiring, educating, and entertaining thousands of audience members.  The juried festival also offered year-round film programming, a Kids’ Planet program, a Youth Short Enviro Film Competition, as well as other special events.

This year we are delighted that the venerable Philadelphia Film Society will be producing the annual festival during the first week of Earth Month 2022.
